Common questions
Which workshop should I choose?
Start with the 90-minute Seaweed Taster if you’re new to the shore or have young children — it’s an easy first taste, all ages welcome. It also runs most days of the month, so it’s the easier one to fit around a trip. On the Rocks is the flagship: four hours of marine foraging ending in a five-course wild menu cooked over fire, ages 8 and up. Private group days and the indoor Coastal Dram cover everything else.
Why do workshop dates follow the tides?
On the Rocks needs the big ‘spring’ tides that come with each new and full moon, when the lowest shore is uncovered — so it runs on around 10 to 14 days a month, with start times shifting with the water, roughly 9.30am to midday. The Seaweed Taster only needs an ordinary low tide, so it runs most days of the month; on both, that day’s tide sets the start time. Our Tide Planner shows the next windows.
Where do the workshops meet?
On shores along the East Neuk between Elie and Kingsbarns — 15 to 25 minutes from St Andrews. The exact meeting point is emailed a few days before your workshop, once weather and tides have settled the best shore for the day — see where the workshops roam.
Can I give a workshop as a gift?
Yes — gift vouchers can be bought for any value and put towards any workshop. They’re digital, arriving by email ready to forward or print.
